Ringing
in the New Year
"The Wellness Way"
The New
Year is upon us, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank
our valued clients, patients and ancillary providers for your
confidence in our team. For many, this is a time of making resolutions
and setting goals. As you prepare your personal and professional goals
for the upcoming year, please don’t forget to address the most
important item of all: Your Health.
Every year,
thousands of Americans are affected by testicular, breast and skin
cancer. These serious and potentially lethal diseases affect people of
all ages. Early detection and prompt medical care are your greatest
weapons and can help increase survival rates dramatically. We have
enclosed information on personal health screening for you to share
with your family and employees. As with all of our brochures,
additional copies are available at a nominal charge. Just give us a
call and we’d be happy to order more for you!
As your partner in
healthcare, our staff and physicians would like to wish you, your
employees and loved ones a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!

Open
House Revisited!
Thanks to all of you who attended our Holiday Open House on November
16th, 2000! Our staff members and ancillary providers enjoyed the
opportunity to visit with you. We have always felt that relationships
are the key to creating value in any business endeavor. Thank you for
allowing us to strengthen our relationship with your organization.
Because the feedback we received was so overwhelmingly positive, you
can look for this to become an annual event! And, to those of you who were unable to attend, we
hope to see you next year!

We’re
Faster on Fridays . . .
As you probably already know, we pride ourselves on consistently
offering some of the shortest wait-times in the medical community;
especially when it comes to pre-employment physicals and drug screens.
However, if even shorter wait-times sound appealing, you might
consider sending your employees in on Fridays.
Historically, Friday has
been one of our lightest patient-load days. In fact, it is not
uncommon for us to see only half of our normal patient volume. Why
this phenomenon occurs is still not entirely understood, but it could
prove to be an excellent opportunity for you and your organization.
What better way to start clean on a Monday, than by getting all the
busy work out of the way the previous Friday?
You might also find higher
service levels by making appointments for your people ahead of time.
While we don’t require appointments, we know that spreading patient
visits evenly throughout the day allows us to provide better overall
service and shorter wait-times for each patient. Of course, we realize
this is not an option for all employers and/or circumstances. It is
simply a helpful suggestion. This obviously DOES NOT APPLY to new
injuries. If you have an employee with a new injury, you should send
them to our clinic immediately!

No
Photo ID? No Drug Screen!
Federal requirements
mandate that all persons presenting themselves for drug-testing must
have a valid photo ID.
This has become a problem recently, as several patients have arrived
at our facility without proper identification.
Please realize that we
simply cannot allow a patient to provide a urine specimen without
first presenting photo identification. This protects all
involved parties, ensuring that the specimen provided has actually
come from the proper donor. It is time consuming and often frustrating
for the donor when our staff sends them away to procure proper
identification.
We realize that time is
often of the essence, and that unnecessary delays should be avoided
whenever possible. Please help us alleviate this problem by notifying
your employees prior to sending them in for drug testing. Thank You!

Educational
"DOT" Video Now Available
We are excited to announce
that we now offer an educational video/workbook program geared for
supervisors and employees of DOT regulated companies. Produced by the
National Safety Alliance, this training program fulfills the DOT’s
educational element requirement in CFR; 382.601, item 11 concerning
the effects of alcohol and controlled substance use on an individual’s
health, work, and personal life; signs, and symptoms of an alcohol or
controlled substance problem; and available methods of intervening
when such a problem is suspected.
This "Supervisor Combo
Pack" includes a 52 page Supervisor Reference Guide, ten employee
handbooks, and two videos containing three hours of total viewing
time. Covered in the training is a 60 minute overview of the various
regulations required for each mode of transportation under the DOT;
"Workplace Drug Abuse Training for Supervisors and
Managers"; and "Alcohol Abuse, Signs & Symptoms".
Items such as a
"Confrontation Interview Planner", supervisor do’s and don’ts,
and other helpful forms are included to document problems or concerns
from discovery, to confrontation, all the way through termination
where appropriate. Much of the information can also be applied when
confronting employees with behavioral and/or productivity issues, not
necessarily related to drug or alcohol abuse.
Accurate record keeping is
an essential part of being a good manager. The tools found in this
program will help first-time and veteran managers alike, by
establishing a fair, consistent, documented, and defensible approach
to employee management. Even if your company is not regulated under
the DOT, you may consider it simply for the management tips and
techniques.
The program is available
for only $295 to our clients, or $395 for non-clients. For your
convenience it can be previewed prior to purchase. Call Tony Baker if
you would like more information.
